Expert mortgage advice for RAF Brize Norton service personnel

At Mortgage Style, we understand that military life brings unique challenges when buying a home — from time overseas to variable pay structures and strict lender criteria. Our advisors specialise in helping service personnel secure mortgages with clarity and confidence.

Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) — make your move sooner

The Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) Scheme is a powerful benefit designed to help service personnel step onto or move up the property ladder. We could help you make the most of it by guiding you through the process and matching you with the right lender.

Key FHTB Scenarios & Support

  • Borrow up to 50% of your annual salary (max £25,000) interest-free to use towards your deposit, solicitor fees, or moving costs.
  • Loan is usually repaid through salary over 10 years, helping you manage repayments easily.
  • You’ll generally need a minimum length of service and at least six months of service remaining at application.
  • If you’ve been posted overseas, your UK credit footprint may be limited — we help you navigate lenders who understand this.
  • Some lenders struggle to interpret military pay and allowances — our armed forces experience ensures they’re assessed correctly.

FHTB eligibility checklist

You may be eligible for Forces Help to Buy if you:

  • Have completed the minimum required service
  • Will have at least six months of service remaining when applying
  • Are looking to buy your first home, move to a new property, or make necessary changes due to family circumstances
  • Meet medical and disciplinary criteria set by the Ministry of Defence
  • Can afford mortgage repayments once FHTB salary deductions are applied
  • If you’re unsure, we can confirm your eligibility in minutes.
